When kanga and roo first come to the forest, the others, rabbit in particular were very suspicious and a bit frightened of them. They hatch a plot to get them to leave the forest but in the end they all become friends.
I suppose the story is to demonstate that there is no need for racism, if I'm not reading too much into it.
